How to Meditate to Unlock Your Feminine Power
Is meditation a consistent part of your morning routine (or at least a goal)? Meditation is a powerful tool in femininity. Here are 7 steps how to meditate to unlock your feminine power.
If you truly want to up-level your Feminine Power, meditation is one of the best practices to cultivate your self-awareness – increasing connection to the body, mastery of emotions, and intentional action.
Are you here for a clear roadmap for how to meditate?
First – a little story for context —
The eager volunteer who had been running the mic at the 700-person event I was attending, gently shoved the mic my face — a bit startled, I looked forward and asked,
“What if you are magnetic and powerful but not quite sure how to use it? “ I had been struggling with the experience of actually moving through the world with power yet at times it completely backfired in my face – leaving me feeling powerless.
The presenter responded, “I see you are actually quite powerful but you’re not quite sure how to yield it to get the results you desire “
I responded, “Exactly!”
She nodded and continued her presentation, never quite answering the question. It’s still not clear to me if she didn’t have the answer or wanted to leave a gap for me to register to the coaching program she was selling. I am guessing a little of both.
In the end I chose not to register for the program but something about her response did turn a light on for me. It wasn’t a lack of power in my space – it was the ability to yield it with accuracy and precision.
It wasn’t for another seven or eight months did I begin to understand the root problem of my inconsistent results: lack of consistent and clear intention.
You see, to yield feminine power in this world requires that you always be intentional and choose your response (not react).
At the time, unbeknownst to me, my emotional and mental triggers or pain bodies were running the show.
Luckily, meditation is by far one of the most effective tools to increase your self-awareness — helping to clarify your intention and cultivate your depth of vision..
But how? Wait no longer….here is my 7 step formula for a powerful meditation practice.
How to Meditate: 7 Steps to Anchor Your Practice and Bring Intention To It
Step 1: Create a Sacred Space
The first step in cultivating your meditation practice is to create a sacred space. Having a sacred space – physically in your home and dedicated time in your schedule will remove obstacles to making meditation a consistent habit.
The physical location could be as simple as a corner with some pillows in your bedroom to an area that you curate for your spiritual practice. Remember, you are the altar.
Step 2: Find a comfortable position
This might seem super simple but it’s worthy to note.
One time a friend of mine who wanted to get into meditation and joined me in class. She started out sitting with her legs crossed and halfway through began fidgeting because her leg fell asleep. Luckily, she was with others and saw how one woman had her legs straight and her back up against the wall. She tried this position which worked well for the rest of the class.
At the end, she shared that the hardest part of meditating for her had been finding a comfortable position. She realized with a more comfortable seating position she could get used to practicing more regularly.
Don’t think you have to sit with your legs folded – the key is to have your spine upright and straight.
Step 3: Turn your attention within in
Take a deep breath, close your eyes, and turn your attention within. Fully experience your breath, any sensations in your body, maybe emotions or thoughts that arise – notice them as the observer.
Step 4: Set an intention
Your intention can be a quality such as – peace, love, or joy or way of being that you are becoming – such as living with intention, responding to life with wisdom. Let it come to you – no need to overthink.
Step 5: Now bring your attention to your breath
Next, focus on your breath without controlling it. Observe – is it long, short, fast, deep?
If your mind wanders to a thought, feeling, sensation – it’s ok. When you catch yourself release it and return to the breath.
Be grateful for these moments of catching your focus wandering – it cultivates the habit of self-awareness and choice to call on throughout the day.
Step 6: Cultivate a Beginner’s Mind
Remind yourself that with each breath and each moment you are new. You have bever been who you are, in this moment before – and allow the newness of a beginner’s mind to enter your practice.
Step 7: Return to the Breath and Listen
Inside of your newness return to the breath and listen as if ‘your sweetest lover is whispering in your ear.’ This is how one of my teachers, Michael Beckwith, would phrase it and it has always stuck with me.
Continue to return to the breath and continue to listen.
Begin your practice with at least 7 minutes and over time increase your practice until you are meditating at least 20-30 minutes each morning. You can also add this to your evening routine or even midday if you like.
Now you have the 7 steps for how to meditate in a way that:
- Realigns you with your intention each morning
- Refines your awareness and focus, and
- Cultivates your power
All important parts of growing and yielding your feminine energy with power and precision. Remember, all of the answers lie deep within.
