What’s on my mind this month? It’s a rainy August in NYC, and the days feel long. I’m working to lean into the luxuriating slow. Now that the Power Structures series is complete, providing a definition and more insight into body intelligence is top of mind for me. It’s a topic with so much depth for me; I want to give it what it deserves. I’ve also been playing around with the ideas of imposter syndrome vs tall poppy syndrome and how the latter impacts the self-image of traditionally excluded peoples, potentially masquerading itself as the former. In the fiction part of my world, the novel is coming along nicely; I’ve added a poem to my fiction section, and I’m noodling around with what was birthed during the hybrid fiction/non-fiction run with the Power Structures series. If you’ve been following along, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Shoot me an email or a message on Substack. Happy August!

About

Tiffany Crawford writes like a cultural critic, feels like a mystic, and thinks like an engineer. Her essays and provocations live at the intersection of power structures, wealth, and body intelligence — examining how institutions shape the people inside them, the generational impact, and potential solutions.

She holds an MS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from UC Berkeley and a BS from Howard University. After building AI models in health technology and advising Fortune 100 companies at Deloitte, she turned her lens on the human systems technology alone can't redesign. Her work has appeared in HuffPost and Shondaland, and she publishes on her Substack, The Nerve. She is writing her first novel.
